I went to a basketball tournament in Mansfield Ohio. I don’t usually frequent a lot of sporting events, especially not basketball, however now that I’m getting married to a former basketball player whose family all plays basketball, I have to learn how to enjoy game after game in a row. The tournament was for my fiance’s little sister and it lasted for 3 days and she played one game each day. Throughout the whole day though, there were basketball games going on. It was overwhelming to see so many games being played at once. The facility we were at had about 5 courts that were being used at all times pretty much. The first day I sat through I think only 2 games in a row which wasn’t too bad, but I really had to get used to sitting for that long and being able to follow the fast pace of the game. I also had to learn a lot about the specifics of the rules in basketball. There are a lot of rules! Aside from the tournament, I also went to a single basketball game at a school for the deaf. The game was exciting but I couldn’t help but notice the art on the walls. Some of it was good and some of it not, making me wonder how people made decisions as to what got put on the walls to represent their school and who made it. Lately, I’ve been noticing so many facets of art in what I see every day, that it is hard for me to not ask those questions. The tournament was a good experience for me and it taught me that things will be fun if you have a good attitude about them.
